Zoe Butt

Zoe Butt is a psychologist and clinical psychology registrar. Zoe completed her Honours degree in psychology at The University of Sydney, winning the Dick Thompson Prize for her work exploring the effects of Hoarding Disorder on family members.

She then completed her Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Technology Sydney, where she developed her skills, knowledge, and passion for working with people clinically.

During her clinical training, Zoe gained knowledge and experience in delivering individual and group therapy in a university clinic, a private inpatient hospital and The Gender Centre as a provisional psychologist.

As an LGBTQIA+ friendly professional, Zoe is dedicated to providing inclusive and affirming support to individuals from all walks of life.

Zoe works primarily with adults and adolescents aged 16 years and older.

In addition to her clinical work, Zoe is also an accomplished researcher. She has published a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles, with a focus on mental health concerns amongst patients and caregivers dealing with chronic and terminal illnesses. Her research has involved collaborations with numerous organisations including The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Psycho-oncology Co-operative Research Group (PoCoG), and multiple research labs at the University of Sydney.

Zoe offers a warm and collaborative therapeutic experience that goes beyond traditional approaches. She utilises a number of treatment modalities including:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

Zoe offers appointments on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

In addition to offering treatment for death anxiety, Zoe is passionate about working with individuals with a diverse range of mental health concerns. In particular, she has undertaken additional further training in trauma-focused CBT and the neurobiology of trauma.
